Joshua Smith serves as a Computer Science faculty member and Director of the Orion Lab at UIS. Joshua has several years of industry experience to go along with his 15 years of experience in higher education. Joshua has been involved extensively with undergraduate students, serving as the Director of the Orion Lab, Undergraduate Coordinator, and faculty advisor, in addition to his primary role as an instructor. Joshua’s areas of interest include robotics, artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, software engineering, and D.E.I. (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). Joshua’s research has been published in books, posters, and has presented his research at several conferences.
