Katie Champion Williams joined the Division of Advancement as a Director of Development in April of 2018. Katie enthusiastically works with donors, alumni, and friends of the College of Public Affairs and Education and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences to enhance scholarship and programming initiatives. She also truly enjoys traveling her to connect with our amazing donors, alumni, and friends that reside outside of Illinois. Katie also manages the Visionary Giving Circle and is passionate about increasing awareness about women's philanthropy. Prior to joining UIS's advancement team, Katie spent almost 14 years at the American Cancer Society working as fundraiser, cancer educator, and advocate for local cancer patient services. While working at the American Cancer Society, Katie started the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Springfield, Coaches vs. Cancer's Most Wanted campaign in Champaign, and Real Men Wear Pink Springfield campaign. Katie enjoys volunteering in the local community and is currently involved with IWIL and is a Co-Chair for the St. Aloysius's PTO. She is also working on completing her master's degree in communication and hopes to graduate in May of 2025.
