Matthew Dixon is a professional trombonist, music educator, music director, inventor, and entrepreneur based in central Illinois. He regularly performs in orchestras throughout the region and is a founding member of the Sycamore Brass Quintet. Before moving to Illinois, he performed regularly in the New York City tristate region.
In 2016 he was awarded a U.S. patent for the MADPipe, a mouthpiece leadpipe system for trombone that he developed at UIUC. He is currently the sole proprietor of MADBone Inc. manufacturer of the MADPipe.
Before joining the faculty at UIS Matthew taught low brass at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais Illinois, and Parkland College in Champaign. At Parkland he is the music director of the Parkland College concert band.
