Houston, Texas native and soprano Viveca Richards is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign under the vocal direction of Yvonne Redman. Recently, Viveca made her role debut as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Krannert Center in Champaign, Illinois As a former student at Stephen F. Austin State University, she performed the role of Monica in The Medium. An avid competitor, most recently, Viveca was awarded the Strauss Award at the Orpheus Vocal Competition and was a recipient of the Congressional Black Caucus Performing Arts Scholarship. Whilte at Stephen F. Austing State University, Viveca obtained her bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. Viveca loves to engage in activities that help her gain experience in developing her artistry including attending vocal workshops and helping her students succeed in their musical endeavors.
