Don't miss an important date or deadline
Completed applications should be received at least 3 months prior to the intended enrollment date. The deadlines below are for general admissions. Please note that some programs have earlier application deadlines (as listed in their admissions requirements).
If you need help or have special circumstances please let us know. Deadlines are posted to help ensure that admission can be completed and immigration documents prepared for students to take to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in the home country to apply for a student visa in a timely manner.

Applying to UIS is simple
We've streamlined our admission process to save you time and effort. Just follow the steps below.
Review admission requirements
View your application requirements. Students should be sure to check specific program requirements; there may be an additional application for the program you wish to enter.

Do you need an F-1 student visa to study on campus at UIS? Please review the International Applicants site for additional information. Reach our the the International Admissions counselor for additional information or assistance.
Complete your application
For applicants that will require an F-1 student visa to study at UIS, applications can only be submitted for the Fall and Spring semesters, with the exception of the Masters in Athletic Training Program which starts in the Summer semester. Completed applications should be received at least 3 months prior to the intended enrollment date.
Submit your supporting documents
Email your official or certified academic records/transcripts or send through any of the major transcript platforms. Photocopies will not be accepted. Many students will also have to submit documentation of English proficiency.
Submit required statements/writing sample
A writing sample is a requirement for many applications. There are two types of writing samples that may be asked as part of the application process. If you have any writing samples required, submit on application status page.
- Personal Statement – This is an applicant’s chance to tell UIS about themselves. It should describe interests and accomplishments which are not indicated elsewhere on the application.
- Academic Statement – This is an applicant’s chance to tell UIS about professional aspirations, intellectual interests, and personal experiences relevant to the choice of a specific academic program at UIS.
Pay your application fee
You can submit your non-refundable application fee online, on the application status page. Alternately, it can also be mailed to the university, payable to University of Illinois Springfield. If you believe you qualify for an application fee waiver, (first-year and transfer only) wait approximately 20 minutes after submitting your application to provide time for processing.
International students: Undergraduate - $60, Graduate - $75.
