The Illinois Springfield and William Jewell men's soccer teams played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon, with both teams scoring in the latter stages of the match. The Prairie Stars are now 0-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 against GLVC opponents.

  • The first half saw both teams creating opportunities but failing to convert. UIS managed three shots, with two on goal, while William Jewell had two shots, one of which was on target
  • The second half saw increased intensity and urgency from both sides. UIS goalkeeper Joe Brudnak managed a flurry of shots with around 30 minutes on the clock, making three saves in under three minutes
  • William Jewell took the lead in the 83rd minute when Alex Tomasella scored off a corner kick, threading the ball through a crowded box
  • UIS responded quickly. In the 86th minute, Anton Aduwa-Emovon scored the equalizer, assisted by Joey Fitzgerald
  • Aduwa-Emovon's goal was his second of the season and the sixth of his career
  • Brudnak snatched a last-minute shot that came from the corner of the field to preserve the draw 
  • Brudnak totaled 10 saves, while William Jewell's goalkeeper had three
