The UIS women's tennis team competed in the ITA Midwest Regional Championship, hosted by Grand Valley State, over the weekend. Four Prairie Stars participated in both singles and doubles matches. Results by flight:
Flight A Singles
- Carmen Llopis Fabra started strong with a decisive 6-2, 6-2 victory over Teodora Petrica from Roosevelt in the Round of 64. She continued her momentum with a hard-fought 1-6, 6-3, 10-7 win against Davenport freshman Sienna Opray in the Round of 32. However, Llopis Fabra's journey ended in the Round of 16 with a 6-3, 6-4 loss against Wayne State's Martyna Szpakowska
- Piper Schrepferman faced a tough challenge in her first match, falling 78-66, 7-5 to Haizea Wara Racaldi Lopez of Purdue Northwest. She then competed in the Flight A Singles Consolation, where she lost 6-0, 6-1 to Victoria Lisson from Maryville and later fell 1-6, 7-5, 10-5 to Daniela Lentisco from Rockhurst
- Kamila Kalinowska won her opening match 6-3, 7-5 against Roosevelt's Sara Gajbhiye but struggled in the Round of 32, losing 6-0, 6-0 to Jimena De Pablos Hernando from Indianapolis
- Niamh Grogan had a strong start with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Rockhurst sophomore Ceilia Ulrich but was defeated 6-4, 6-3 by Grand Valley State's Kalimoira Rali in the Round of 32
- The team of Carmen Llopis Fabra and Piper Schrepferman fell in the Round of 32 with a 5-8 loss to Ferris State's team of Kennedy Dumas and Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer
- Kamila Kalinowska and Niamh Grogan also faced a tough challenge, losing 8-4 to Findlay's pairing of Lidia Laskova and Ivana Gombitova in the Round of 32
