Illinois Springfield's senior goalkeeper, Allison Mirimanian, has been honored as the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week following two standout performances on the road.

Mirimanian, a senior from Silvis, Ill., demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience during the Prairie Stars' recent fixtures. She recorded 13 saves in 180 minutes in net and secured her first shutout of the year.

In the opening match of the week, a 1-1 tie against Ohio Dominican on Sept. 11, Mirimanian played a crucial role in securing the draw, delivering five key saves that kept the game even.

Mirimanian excelled in Sunday's match against William Jewell. Her pivotal performance in the Prairie Stars' 2-0 victory included eight critical saves, ensuring a clean sheet for Illinois Springfield and greatly contributing to the team's success.

This accolade marks Mirimanian's third career Defensive Player of the Week award, having previously earned the honor on Oct.10, 2022, and Sept. 13, 2021.

The Prairie Stars currently hold a 1-1-2 overall record and are 1-0 against GLVC opponents. Mirimanian has been the starting goalkeeper in each of these matches.

UIS women's soccer will return to action as they host the Truman State Bulldogs at Kiwanis Stadium on Friday, Sept. 20, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
