The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team will continue GLVC play with two home games this weekend. On Friday night, the Prairie Stars play Southwest Baptist at 5:00 p.m. for their annual Homecoming game. Sunday afternoon, UIS takes on Rockhurst at 12:00 p.m.

UIS (2-1-3, 2-0-1 GLVC)

The Prairie Stars were looking to continue their solid start to the conference schedule this past weekend. On Friday night, the Stars took on Truman State and on Sunday UIS traveled to Quincy to take on the Hawks. Friday night's contest was mostly controlled by UIS throughout the ninety minutes, with the lone goal in the 9th minute. The goal came off a corner kick that was flicked back into the box and Katelynn Ward was able to guide the ball into the top corner for her first goal of the season. UIS had the majority of the chances the rest of the game, but couldn't increase the lead further. UIS outshot TSU 10-3, with a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Sunday's affair against Quincy was a much more even game as both squads threatened. It was a game of two halves, as QU came out strong in the first half. Quincy took a lead in the 28th with a shot from outside the box that found the top corner. The Prairie Stars took over in the second half and began to create chaos around the Quincy goal. UIS finally equalized in the 75th minute as Dani Auble finished off a great cross from Emily Tully. The Prairie Stars were handed a golden chance in the 78th minute to go ahead when they were awarded a penalty kick. Abby Dellamorte stepped up, but unfortunately saw her effort saved by the Quincy goalkeeper. The game ended 1-1 as the teams shared the point. UIS finished with a slight advantage in shots, 12-11, as both teams had 6 shots on goal.

Southwest Baptist (0-4-2, 0-2-1 GLVC)

SBU hosted UMSL on Friday and Lincoln on Sunday. On Friday against UMSL, the Tritons dominated the contest from start to finish, but were unable to find the back of the net in a 0-0 draw. UMSL outshot Baptist 29-2, with a 10-0 advantage in shots on goal.

Sunday's contest was a much more even affair, with Lincoln generating more chances over the ninety minutes. Both teams found chances in the first half, but went into the intermission knotted at 0. Lincoln scored the game's only goal in the 76th minute to earn the win. LU finished with a 22-13 advantage in shots, and a 11-6 lead in shots on goal.

UIS vs Southwest Baptist History

The Prairie Stars are 4-0-1 historically against the Bearcats. The lone tie came in 2023, as the teams played to a 2-2 draw last Homecoming.

Rockhurst (3-4, 1-2 GLVC)

Rockhurst hit the road on Friday to take on one of the GLVC's best, Maryville, before welcoming UMSL to Kansas City on Sunday. Friday turned into a rough game, as MU was able to score two goals in both halves on the way to a 4-0 win. RU had few chances, but high-quality ones that unfortunately didn't end in goals. Maryville outshot Rockhurst 21-7, with a 12-5 advantage in shots on goal.

In Sunday's contest against UMSL, RU looked to get back in the win column after a tough Friday afternoon. It was a tale of two halves, with UMSL creating the majority of the chances in the first period. The second half was a different story as the Hawks began to pepper the Triton goal. The game's opening goal came in the 53rd minute from Anna Lantz as she unleashed a strike into the upper left corner. Exactly four minutes later, RU doubled their lead as Lantz scored her second of the match. Rockhurst continued to create chances, but would add no more goals, coming away with a 2-0 win.

UIS vs Rockhurst History

UIS holds a 2-13 historical record against the Hawks. UIS was able to topple RU for the first time ever in Kansas City in 2023 by a score of 3-1. The only other time the Prairie Stars beat Rockhurst was in 2017 in Springfield.
