The UIS volleyball team notched its 10th win of the season, defeating Truman State in a five-set battle (22-25, 25-20, 25-19, 19-25, 15-9) on Thursday night at Pershing Arena in Kirksville, Mo. UIS improved to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in GLVC play, while Truman State remains winless at 0-14 overall and 0-2 in conference.

Match Summary
  • Set 1: Illinois Springfield took an early lead with contributions from Eirini Glynou and Erica Sledge. Truman State fought back, tying it at 16-16, with key plays by Autumn Erickson. Despite a late UIS rally, Truman State secured the set 25-22, finishing with a kill by Jessica Proszenyak
  • Set 2: The Prairie Stars initially struggled with a series of early errors, allowing Truman State to tie the score at 14-14. However, UIS regrouped and traded blows with TSU down the stretch, and a strong team effort from players like Siefken and Cox helped secure the set 25-20
  • Set 3: UIS jumped to a 5-1 lead in set three, but Truman State answered back, tying the score at 5-5. The teams remained within four points during the middle of the set, with TSU holding the lead until UIS took over at 16-15. Kendall Johnson played a crucial role, delivering key late kills that helped UIS pull ahead. They closed out the set 25-19 with a final kill from Glynou
  • Set 4: UIS establised a strong 5-1 lead, but Truman State fought back to equalize at 19-19. UIS faced challenges, including misserves and attack errors, that shifted the momentum in favor of TSU late in the set. UIS was unable to recover, allowing TSU to clinch the set 25-19 and extend the match to a fifth set
  • Set 5: UIS and TSU continued their battle for dominance in the GLVC match. UIS established an early lead once again, and although TSU made an effort to close the gap, they never threatened the UIS advantage. The Prairie Stars maintained control throughout the set and ultimately clinched it 15-9 with a decisive kill from Madison Siefken
  • Makenna Cox led UIS with 13 kills and added 17 digs, while Kendall Johnson chipped in 12 kills
  • Eirini Glynou led the team defensively with a match-high 18 digs, paired with 11 kills
  • Erica Sledge orchestrated the offense with 41 assists and contributed 17 digs of her own
