The UIS women's basketball team fell to the Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) Tritons on Saturday afternoon, 87-67, in their first GLVC matchup of the season. The loss moves the Prairie Stars to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Tritons improve to 5-1 and 1-0 in the GLVC.

Game Summary

• Both teams started the game with high energy, but UMSL managed to gain a slight edge early on. An 8-3 run by the Tritons allowed them to close the first quarter with a 23-15 lead
• UIS fought back in the second quarter, steadily chipping away at the deficit. The Prairie Stars trimmed the lead to just two points at 29-27, but UMSL answered with a quick 6-0 run to reestablish control
• The teams exchanged baskets in the closing minutes of the half, with the Tritons maintaining a 45-35 advantage at the break
• UMSL began to pull away in the third quarter, extending their lead to 17 points behind strong offensive execution
• In the fourth quarter, the Tritons continued to keep the Prairie Stars at a comfortable distance while both teams added to their scoring totals. UMSL's efficient shooting sealed an 85-64 victory in the conference opener
• Diavian Mehundrew was the game's leading scorer with 27 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. Kayla Rice added 17 points of her own, and Emari Doby chipped in with 13 points
• UIS shot 25-for-59 (42.4%) from the field, 7-of-18 (38.9%) from three, and 10-for-13 (76.9%) from the free-throw line
• UMSL shot 37-for-65 (56.9%) from the field, 4-of-10 (40.0%) from three, and 9-of-10 (90.0%) from the free-throw line
• UMSL also held advantages in rebounds (34-29), assists (24-10), and steals (9-7)
