The UIS women's basketball team returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 5, traveling to face the Indianapolis Greyhounds in a GLVC matchup. 

Illinois Springfield (1-11, 0-4 GLVC)
The Prairie Stars are looking to build on the momentum of their first win of the season. In their victory over Saint Ambrose, UIS put on an all-around strong performance. Niyah Udoiwod led the team with a career-high 22 points, while Allysia McDaniel added 13 points. UIS forced 20 turnovers, converting them into 23 points, and shot a season-high 53.3% from the field.

Kayla Rice, the team's leading scorer, averages 16.2 points per game and leads the GLVC in three-pointers per game and steals. Emari Doby adds 13.3 points per game, providing consistent scoring support. UIS averages 61.1 points per game on an improved 40.7% shooting from the field.

UIS won the last matchup between the teams 101-96 at TRAC but trails 12-5 in the all-time series.

Indianapolis (2-9, 0-3 GLVC)
The Greyhounds are seeking their first conference win and are on a losing streak that dates back to Nov. 19. Indianapolis narrowly fell to Walsh University 63-60 in their last game on Dec. 21. Patricia Chikamba led all scorers with 26 points and added seven rebounds in the effort. Junior Jaelynne Murray posted a season-high 14 points, along with three rebounds and two assists.

UIndy averages 56.9 points per game on 38.7% shooting. Chikamba, who averages 17.4 points per game, is the team's leading scorer and will be a focal point for the UIS defense.
