The Illinois Springfield women's indoor track & field team is set to open its 2025 season with a busy weekend in Indianapolis. The Prairie Stars will compete at the Gerry England Invitational on Friday, January 17, hosted at the UIndy ARC, which features a 200m flat 6-lane oval with an 8-lane sprint straightaway. Field events will begin at 3:00 p.m. Central (4:00 p.m. Eastern), with running events starting at 3:30 p.m. Central (4:30 p.m. Eastern). The meet will include a mile run and 3000m run, events in which much of the UIS roster will be participating.

Admission for the meet is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and children. Tickets are available online through gofan.co, and QR codes for ticketing will be provided at the entrance.

Following Friday's event, the team will remain in Indianapolis for the Hoosier Horsepower Classic at the Indiana Farmers Insurance Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Saturday, January 18, with events beginning at 9:30 a.m. Central (10:30 a.m. Eastern). This meet will wrap up an exciting opening weekend for the UIS women's team as they kick off their 2025 campaign. Prairie Stars to Watch This Season
Madelyn Miller has earned All-GLVC honors in cross country for two consecutive seasons and has scored at recent track championships. Kaleigh Inniss, also an All-GLVC cross country runner, will be looking to extend her success into the track season. The roster also features several talented newcomers this season, eager to make their track debut as Prairie Stars.
