The UIS men's track & field team demonstrated their prowess in distance events at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic on Saturday, wrapping up the opening weekend of their 2025 indoor track & field season.

"I am very pleased with the results this weekend!" said head coach Emmons King. "The first meet of the year is when we shake off the rust from winter mileage and get back to running fast. We were able to come away with five program top-10 times and 19 personal bests! I'm excited to keep this momentum heading into next week at Bellarmine!"

Meet Highlights
  • The Prairie Stars dominated the men's 5,000m, claiming the top three spots with strong performances from Brock Loftus, Brendan Cairney, and Joey Karlesky.
  • In the men's mile, Isaac Cortes led the way for UIS, finishing 14th overall and third in heat two with a time of 4:18. Aidan Donohue and Balin Doud followed closely in 4:22.
  • Ryan Jones posted one of the best 800m times of his career, clocking 1:56 to secure 8th place overall.
  • Dom Cantarini led the Prairie Stars in the men's 3,000m, posting an 8:44 in his collegiate debut to finish 18th overall.
