The UIS women's track & field team delivered several standout performances at the Lewis Invite on Friday night, highlighted by Madelyn Miller's historic mile run. Miller became the first UIS runner to break the 5-minute barrier in the indoor mile with a time of 4:57.00, marking a new milestone for the program. Her performance currently ranks No. 55 in NCAA Division II as of Friday night.

Meet Highlights
  • Miller's third-place finish in the mile led a strong showing for the Prairie Stars. Marissa Roggensack (13th, 5:13.13) and Lillian Buzani (14th, 5:17.15) also posted competitive times.
  • In the 3,000-meter run, Josslyn Gaona claimed first place with a time of 10:21.50, leading a deep UIS contingent. Jordan Serrahn (7th, 10:39.44) and Allison Thompson (9th, 10:50.23) both secured top-10 finishes.
  • In the 800-meter run, Norah Wright (19th, 2:27.18) and Lillian Buzani (21st, 2:27.99) paced the Prairie Stars, with Kali Gaden (26th, 2:30.54) close behind.

The GVSU Big Meet is next on the horizon for UIS. Grand Valley State hosts invitational heats on Friday, Feb. 14, followed by open races on Saturday, Feb. 15. The meet presents a prime opportunity for the Prairie Stars to race the 5,000-meter run or attempt both the 5,000-meter and 3,000-meter runs in one weekend.
