The UIS women's basketball team suffered a 77-53 loss to Upper Iowa on Thursday night in Fayette, Iowa. With the defeat, the Prairie Stars drop to 5-20 overall and 4-13 in GLVC play, while the Peacocks improve to 12-12 overall and 9-9 in the conference.

  • The game opened with three-pointers from both teams, setting the tone for a competitive first quarter. UIS kept pace early, preventing Upper Iowa from finding an offensive rhythm. A late 6-2 run gave the Prairie Stars a 17-15 lead at the end of the first.
  • However, Upper Iowa found its stride in the second quarter, outscoring UIS 20-9 and knocking down four three-pointers to take a 35-26 lead at halftime. The Peacocks shot 46.4% from the field and 35.7% from three in the first half, while UIS struggled at 34.5% and 18.2%, respectively. Both teams had 10 turnovers at the break.
  • The Peacocks maintained control in the third quarter, extending their lead beyond double digits. UIS couldn't close the gap, as Upper Iowa heated up from three-point range and controlled the boards. UIU's defensive pressure forced difficult shots for the Prairie Stars, who couldn't find an answer on the offensive end, and the game ended 77-53.
  • Emari Doby (13 points) and Diavian Mehundrew (10 points) led UIS in scoring, while Allysia McDaniel grabbed 10 rebounds.
