Amanda McConnell chose the University of Illinois Springfield “because the small community allows for connection with professors and other students,” she said. McConnell plays on the UIS Volleyball team where she feels encouraged to grow as a person and as an athlete. She is a member of the Capital Scholars Honors Program and has done volunteer work in the community. Asked what she like most about UIS, she said, “I like the variety of organizations and classes that are made available to students. There is something for everyone and UIS provides classes for both major requirements and electives.” Following graduation from UIS, she plans to attend Physician Assistant school.
