The Camerata Scholarship is a generous Performance Scholarship available to incoming students of any major and is renewable for four years. Interested applicants must complete a UIS Camerata Scholarship Application Form, which includes a cover letter, resume and video audition. The resume should include musical training and participation in music activities, and the names and phone numbers of at least two references. Audition performances should include major and minor scales and two short pieces in contrasting styles (one slow and lyrical; one faster and more technical). Time Commitment for Camerata Musicians

Students who are accepted into the UIS Music Camerata Scholarship Program are expected to devote the appropriate amount of time and effort required to provide leadership for existing ensembles and to maintain high quality Camerata ensembles. The Music Camerata is a group of non-major music scholarship students who perform in a variety of musical combinations for campus events throughout the academic year.

Criteria for the scholarship includes:

  • Enroll in two Instrumental Ensembles each semester (as assigned)
  • Enroll in MUS 141/341: Individual Music Lessons
  • Regular attendance at lessons, rehearsals and performances
  • Maintain minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be a full time student (12 credit hours minimum)

*Please Note: The Camerata Scholarship is only available to incoming students. Students that are already enrolled at UIS are not eligible for the Camerata Scholarship.
