Emily Alcorn is president of the Tri Sigma Sorority Theta Lambda Chapter at the University of Illinois Springfield and works at the UIS Cox Children’s Center. “I chose UIS due to how affordable it was and for the distance it is from home,” she said. “It is not too far so I can visit home frequently, but also far enough to where I can make a life separate from my hometown.” She enjoys UIS’ countless opportunities to get involved and meet new people. Following graduation, she plans to move to Tennessee and pursue a master’s degree while teaching in the classroom.
