Coastline’s unique partnership with the University of Illinois Springfield through the Learning 1st initiative provides an online pathway for Coastline students to simultaneously earn an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Science and Math degree and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science without having to leave the state of California.
How the Coastline/UIS Partnership Works
- You enroll simultaneously at Coastline CC and University of Illinois Springfield
- You are assigned dedicated advisors at both institutions that will help you choose classes and stay on track.
- Your general education units – completed at Coastline – can be completed on-site at one of three O.C. campuses, or online via distance learning. You earn the A.S. degree in Science and Math.
- Your upper division (major) units in Computer Science are completed entirely online through the University of Illinois Springfield. You earn the B.S. degree in Computer Science.
- You will take Coastline CC and UIS classes according to your academic plan. That may mean taking one or more UIS computer science courses during your first two years.
Benefits
- You are guaranteed to get your needed classes each semester.
- Your tuition rates at UIS are affordable and locked-in for the duration of the program. What you pay per credit hour at the beginning is what you pay through the end.
- A single application form to complete and no application fee.
