- Illinois Central College (ICC) students with a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework at ICC and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on all transferrable coursework taken at ICC, are guaranteed admission to UIS as juniors and will have the admission application fee waived. Applications must be submitted for the fall term by May 1 (November 1 for spring) in the year you plan to transfer.

- Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) students with a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework at LLCC and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on all transferrable coursework taken at LLCC, are guaranteed admission to UIS as juniors and will have the admission application fee waived. Applications must be submitted for the fall term by May 1 (November 1 for spring) in the year you plan to transfer.

The U of I System Transfer Guarantee
Students transferring from an Illinois community college are guaranteed admission into the University of Illinois Springfield through The U of I Transfer Guarantee if they meet requirements.

Additional Information & Requirements
- Admission to the junior year at UIS is granted to applicants who have completed 60 semester (90 quarter) hours of credit with a “C” average or better from a regionally accredited Illinois college or university.
- Admission to the senior year at UIS is granted to applicants who are seeking a second bachelor’s degree and have graduated from a regionally accredited Illinois college or university. UIS will consider all general education requirements met.
- We know that individuals learn in different ways. They bring experience that may have been acquired outside the classroom, including service in the armed forces, paid or unpaid employment, or other demonstrated competency or learning. Contact the Office of Engaged Learning – Internships and Prior Learning staff to find out how to turn prior experiences into academic credit.
- Military connected applicants may be eligible to receive credit for military training. UIS follows ACE recommendations for awarding academic credit for military training. Such academic credit may be used toward the student’s degree plan. Receive an admission application fee waiver by submitting your DD-214 with their application for admission. We also have numerous other assistant options, specifically for veterans assistance.
