ITS Resources
- Office 365 – UIS students and employees can take advantage of Office 365 to download Office applications on their personally-owned devices, free for use while they are enrolled in courses/employed at UIS. Office 365 also includes use of the Office mobile apps, allowing you to create and edit Office documents on your mobile devices. Students and employees may go to http://go.uis.edu/office365 to start taking advantage of this great resource. And be sure to take advantage of other software available.
- Equipment Checkout – Laptops, digital cameras, video cameras, microphones, voice recorders, and other equipment are available for short term checkout, free of charge.
- Zoom – Zoom is a cloud-based conferencing solution that provides both video conferencing and screen share capabilities. All UIS faculty, students, and staff have access to the university’s licensed account and to Zoom’s great video conferencing features. Many courses will be taking advantage of Zoom this fall, so we encourage you to check out the Zoom Resource page and to do the Zoom Test prior to your class sessions so that you can test your mic and camera.
- Box – Box provides unlimited cloud storage for files. You can easily share files, collaborate with others, access your files on mobile devices, and sync files to your desktop. Box now includes a great feature to edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files online in the browser!
- LinkedIn Learning hosts thousands of video tutorials on hundreds of different software applications, providing you with the training you need when you need it.
- Citrix Virtual Desktop – In an effort to improve ease of access of instructional software, you may take advantage of Citrix Virtual Desktop, which allows users (whether on or off campus) to access a virtual computer that runs all software for which UIS has licensing.
We encourage you to take advantage of these many resources and services, and to let us know how we can better meet your needs. We are looking forward to working with you!
