Today’s chill in the air is a reminder of how quickly the end of Fall semester is approaching. These next couple of weeks look to be busy on campus, with Halloween and fall festivities, engaging speaker presentations, Veterans Day programming, and an Open House for prospective students. New Information
RISE Employee Fall Information Session: NEW DATE/TIME/LOCATION!
Join us 2:30-4 p.m. Nov. 7 in Brookens Auditorium. Please note: This is a new time, date and place from information previously shared regarding this event due to last-minute scheduling conflicts among our leadership team. This session will be dedicated to sharing information on our most significant university priorities, including budget and enrollment. Following the presentations, we will be available to answer audience questions. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this important opportunity to share information as we continue to work together toward achieving our goals.
Building Research Partnerships
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs has introduced a new program, “Building Research Partnerships at UIS and Beyond,” to foster connections between UIS faculty and external researchers working on similar projects. Proposed topics are due to Lucía Vázquez by Nov. 6. Read more on Orbit.
Colonnade Lighting
Join me at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, to celebrate the start of this holiday season with our annual Colonnade lighting, sponsored by Student Affairs. It’s a favorite UIS tradition!
On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the UIS Police Department will be testing the UIS Rave notification system during the monthly severe weather sirens. This test will help identify any shortfalls within our emergency communication systems to make sure we can reach the campus community in the event of an emergency.
ID Center
Starting Nov. 1, the ID Center will no longer accept cash. You may pay for i-cards and photos with a debit or credit card, or with Apple Pay or Google Pay. For replacement i-cards, you may also pay with Campus Cash.
Art Loan Program
Artwork from the UIS Art and Artifacts Collection is available to be loaned out to UIS faculty and staff to beautify campus spaces. Check out the UIS Art Collection website to see how the loan program works.
UIS on the Road
UIS on the Road is a new feature on the Admissions website where you can see when admissions counselors will be in your area. Check it out!

Annual Ethics Training DUE TOMORROW
Please complete your annual ethics training by 5 p.m. Oct. 31 to remain in compliance. The training takes approximately 40-60 minutes.
Celebrating our Star Power
Angela Evans, assistant director of Career Development, has been selected for the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Practice & Consultation Fellowship at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice. This nine-month fellowship provides mental health professionals with exposure to the theoretical underpinnings of ACT alongside opportunities to explore their clinical practice from a contextual behavioral perspective.
