Ron Silver (he/him/his) is a composer and performer. He was producer (1998-2023) and director (2022-2023) of New Music New College (NMNC) in Sarasota, FL, a program that presented contemporary, experimental, and avant-garde performance.s As producer, he took care of all tech work (sound, lighting, video, etc.) and much of the logistical work of the program, and as director he devised and led the final season.

Silver has worked closely with such artists as Pamela Z, Kathleen Supove, JACK Quartet, Third Coast Percussion, George Lewis, Ensemble Dal Niente, Miya Masaoka, Tyshawn Sorey, Francis Schwartz, ETHEL, and others.

He has composed numerous works for NMNC concerts, including Spin Cycle, where the sound rotates around the audience as performers on all sides pass motifs, and I'm Sorry, Steinway, played on an already-defunct piano by Destructors. 

He has performed works by John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, Cornelius Cardew, Frederic Rzewski, Louis Andriessen, Francis Schwartz, and others, and is listed by the composer as a notable performer of Roger MArsh's solo composed-theater piece Dum

Before moving to Sarasota, Silver was the lead singer, songwriter, and keyboard player of the alternative rock band No Radio in New York City. 

Silver has presented and led workshop performances at the New Music Gathering and Social Theory, Politics, and the Arts conferences. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

He is co-author with CLASS Dean Miriam Wallace of an essay in the forthcoming collection Frankenstein's Lives: Shelley's Novel as Cultural Phenomenon from Bloomsbury Publishing.
