Chris Johnson, Candidate for the Student Representative to the Board of Trustees
I wish to represent the students of UIS to the broader U of I system and nation. I have served the UIS community for 3 years in various roles starting as freshman senator and later Internal Vice president. I have written substantial constitution and bylaws revisions and served on the UIS campus senate for 2 years. These experiences and more have given me skills that would make me an exemplary student representative to the board of trustees. Just having the skills to advocate is not enough; you must also have a vision of what you're advocating for. I routinely engage with and interact with all groups of students at UIS and can often be found working in the union. As the student representative to the board of trustees I will give UIS a loud voice in advocating to the U of I system, and implement new measure of transparency
