Current Position

I am the Senior Director for Public Policy and Advocacy at Planned Parenthood of Illinois and Planned Parenthood Illinois Action.

What is your fondest memory of UIS?

I met my husband, Neil Calderon, at UIS and we started dating.

How has your UIS education prepared you for your current career?

My education positioned me perfectly for my career. I was able to develop contacts and gain work experience that helped to build my career. It also helps that my classmates are still in State Government, so I can continue to work with the people that I shared so many classroom hours with. I am extremely proud of the education that I received at UIS. I am a proud U of I alum. 

Do you have any advice for students?

UIS is a perfect institution to gain skills that will last you a lifetime. Not only will you gain a first class education, but you will also gain leadership experience and develop interpersonal relationships that will sustain you through the rest of your career.
