John “Jack” Stege has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for April 2024. He is a building service foreman in the janitorial department.

His supervisor, Pattie Meyer, said that Stege is very enthusiastic about doing a great job.

“He takes a lot of pride in his work and truly cares about the people he serves,” Meyer said. “He continually asked employees and staff what he can do to help in any way to improve the area and is always willing to do more.”

Stege’s nominator praised Stege for his energy that he brings to the workplace.

“Jack goes above and beyond helping out the Financial Aid office as well as all of the offices he maintains in UHB,” his nominator said. “He is friendly and willing to help us in any way he can!”

Stege is also known for his work ethic and dependability.

“Jack consistently volunteers to help other staff members, faculty, and students, making them his first priority,” Meyer said. “He is always available to help and encourage others to have a good work ethic, reminding his peers how important their role is with students and staff.”
