Karizma Alvarado loves the close-knit community and the peaceful surroundings at the University of Illinois Springfield. She is a mentor in the Capital Scholars Honors Program, secretary and academic chair for Gamma Phi Omega International Sorority, Inc. and works at the UIS Women’s Center. She chose UIS because it offers her a strong support system and a home away from home. After graduation, Alvarado hopes to open her own business.
