Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon

We are thrilled to announce that the renovations at Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon are now complete!

We have transformed a small conference room and a small classroom into a spacious, collaborative learning and meeting space that will foster creativity and engagement.

Highlighted change to the work order form

Work Order Update

We have added the "Requesting Dept." field to our work order request form. While this new field is optional, we encourage you to complete it when submitting requests.

This information will help our team better understand who is authorizing the work and can provide an alternative contact point if the primary requester is unavailable.

This small change will improve communication and help us serve you more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation!

New parking area designated for Motor Pool vehicles

Motor Pool

A few changes have been implemented for vehicle pickup and return.

What has changed:

  • The vehicle pickup area has been moved to parking lot B. Please see the yellow highlighted area in the image (right).
  • Vehicles can be returned in the new area or near the key drop-off box. Do not park Motor Pool vehicles in the PERKS or ADA spaces.

What has not changed:

  • Keys can be picked up in the Motor Pool office (BSB 5) from 8:00am-3:00pm. Please make arrangements with Dustin if you must pick up keys between 3:00 and 5:00pm.
  • Keys can be returned to the key drop off box in lot B or in the Motor Pool office.
  • Mileage must be written on the while mileage card inside the leather pouch attached to the vehicle key.

Any questions, please reach out to Dustin in the Motor Pool office at 217-206-6531 or dbrin6@uis.edu.

Recycling and Waste Management

To maintain our campus sustainability efforts and avoid unnecessary fees and penalties, please follow these important waste and recycling guidelines:

Recycling Best Practices:

  • Place all recyclable materials loose in recycling dumpsters—never in bags
  • Flatten cardboard boxes to maximize space
  • Ensure all recyclable items are clean, dry, and free of food waste

Dumpster Usage:

  • Never overfill dumpsters. If a dumpster is full, please find another nearby location
  • Always close dumpster lids completely after use to prevent runoff when it rains and to keep critters out

Illegal Dumping:

  • Report any unauthorized dumping on campus to Campus Police immediately

By following these guidelines, you help our university avoid costly penalties while supporting our sustainability initiatives. Your cooperation ensures that we maintain a clean, environmentally responsible campus for everyone.
