It can take decades to free an innocent person. Since the global pandemic began, IIP has helped release five people from prison. Its three-pronged mission – advocacy, education and reform – guides IIP’s work to bring justice to the wrongfully convicted. IIP is the only innocence project of its nature that primarily uses undergraduate students, and is the only one in the country that has an ongoing police training program. They will launch a virtual speaker series, “Guilty Until Proven Innocent,” featuring exonerees in December.
