Monica Naviri chose the University of Illinois Springfield because of the Graduate Public Service Internship (GPSI) Program. The program is giving her a chance to earn a master’s degree, while gaining experience at a paid state government internship. Naviri is currently interning at the Illinois Department of Healthcare & Family Services where she serves as an information analyst. She says the GPSI Program is a “great opportunity for students to start their professional career and experience work culture before graduation.” On campus, Naviri is president of the Indian Student Organization where she leads student events.
