The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team kicks off their season in Hammond, Ind. on Sunday against Purdue Northwest at 1:30 pm. This non-conference matchup is the fourth time that these two have faced off against each other. PNW won 2-1 in Hammond in 2023.

The Prairie Stars return to the pitch under new leadership, as Graham Shaw takes control for the 2024 season. He will look to continue recent successes with the returners who have gained valuable experience over the past three seasons in the GLVC and NCAA Tournament. A string of first-years will also have huge impacts on the team this season. UIS enters the season ranked #17 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason National Poll. The Prairie Stars were picked to finish fifth in the GLVC, a year after winning the regular season title.
Purdue Northwest
The Pride look to continue on last season's achievements, winning the GLIAC Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. PNW was picked to finish second in the GLIAC. All-American and GLIAC Offensive Player of the Season, Hugo Lorenzo, returns to the Pride in 2024, along with three other All-Conference honorees. Purdue Northwest began their season on Thursday night, which saw them upset #4 Lewis on the road.
