UIS experts will convene a panel discussion on how the U.S. Constitution relates to two contemporary issues.
Dr. Deborah Anthony, UIS Legal Studies Professor, will discuss the Fourth Amendment's prohibition of warrantless seizures and how it applies to Border Patrol activities within the "100 mile zone" of the border.
Dr. Nicholas Waterbury, Assistant Research Director for the Center for State Policy and Leadership, will discuss the growth (and limits) of presidential power, focusing on the 2023 U.S. Supreme Court student loan decision.
Dr. John Transue, a UIS professor in the School of Politics and International Affairs and faculty appointment in CSPL, will moderate a vibrant discussion following the two presentations.
