ATTENTION UIS FACULTY MEMBERS:
- FULL-TERM and LAST-HALF GRADING DEADLINE: Noon on May 17, 2023
IMPORTANT POINTS RELATED TO SPRING 2023 FULL-TERM AND LAST-HALF GRADING:
- All spring UIS courses are classified into four categories: full-term (courses beginning prior to the midpoint of the semester and ending after the midpoint), intersession (courses beginning prior to the start of the spring semester, but after the end of the prior fall semester), first-half (courses beginning and ending by the mid-point), and last-half (courses beginning and ending after the midpoint). Any courses that do not fit into these categories (e.g., courses designated with “To Be Arranged” days/times) are considered to be full-term courses, unless otherwise indicated in the current online course schedule.
- All grades must be entered via Faculty Self-Service. To submit your grades, please refer to the instructions on this document.
- EVERY student whose name appears on your grading roster is officially enrolled in your course and as such, MUST be assigned a grade. Special circumstances (e.g., withdrawing a student due to a medical situation) will be dealt with by our office and, if appropriate, the assigned grade will be retroactively removed.
- To better comply with federal financial aid regulations, all faculty are required to submit a last date of attendance when assigning an “F” grade during grade entry. This date should be the last day the student attended/participated in class (in person, blackboard, email, etc.), turned in an assignment, or attended a course related activity (EXCLUDING FINAL EXAM WEEK FOR FALL AND SPRING). For additional information, please refer to the instructions on the attached document.
- In consultation with the Provost’s Office, an “Incomplete Grade Form” has been created. The intent of this optional form is to clearly outline the expectations associated with the assignment of an incomplete grade. This form is to be completed by the course instructor when an incomplete (“I”) grade is assigned for a particular course. The optional form is available online at: https://www.uis.edu/registrar/registrar-faculty-resources.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the grading process, please contact the Office of Records and Registration by calling 217/206-6709 or by emailing registrar@uis.edu.
