Join us on Zoom on Monday, February 20, 6pm for the next installment of the Perfect Pitch: Performance Psychology Panel Series: "Practice Makes Imperfect". What does practicing mean to you? What does it mean to be one's own teacher? What are the practice routines of famous musicians? How should athletes prepare their bodies for the workloads and stressors of practice?
Panelists:
Ryan Johnson, UIS Director of Sports Performance
Katelyn Hummel, UIS exercise science, psychology, and music student
Delinda Chapman, Visual Artist
Jacobsen Woollen, Conductor of the UIS Orchestra/Assistant Conductor of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra
More About the Panel Series:
Perfect Pitch is an interdisciplinary panel series focused the intersections between sports, music, and other performance disciplines, especially as competitive realms that require significant practice, training, and teamwork, and that have high performance expectations.
A central tenet of the series is that the lives led by athletes and musicians are often remarkably similar despite their often-assumed incompatibility. A main goal is to help students and faculty from these and other related disciplines benefit from interdisciplinary insight.
