1. Go to the Library Website.
  2. Search for the title, be as specific as you can. Use quotation marks if you know the exact title.
  3. This will open up Ex Libris Discovery. Before you do anything else, log in using your net ID and password.
  4. Select "All I-Share Libraries" and hit search.
  5. Filter appropriately on the left hand side of the screen. Do you need a book? DVD? etc. In this example, I want a book, so I would filter appropriately.
  6. Once you've found the item, selection "See All Versions."
  7. This page will show you all the versions available, choose the one you would like to request. In this case, I want the 2004 version. Now select "Check Available Services.
  8. The next page will provide information about the book. Scroll down and see the I-Share Availability. Under the sub-heading, "Get it from other I-Share Libraries," there will be a list of libraries that have the book available to loan. In this case, there is only one and it's currently out of the library. If you're not happy to wait, find another library.
  9. If they decide to request the book, select "Request from I-Share."
  10. Fill out the following form and hit "Request." Make sure the "Preferred Pickup Institution" is UIS, or somewhere of their choosing. Let the patron know they will receive an email when the book is ready to be picked up.
  11. A Patron can check the status of their I-Share request if they logging into the library search engine.

They can then sign in to their account. And view their requests here where an update will be available. It rarely gives a specific date when their book will arrive.
