However, please keep in mind that a checklist provides almost no information for GECo. Also, syllabi are written for a different audience – students. Those documents are required to help faculty think about their courses. Unfortunately, members of GECo cannot read all books/documents listed in the syllabus or in many cases anticipate how faculty might structure lectures, discussions, projects, and assessments. Therefore many applications would benefit by providing specific information, which might not naturally fit in a syllabus, to clarify how the course meets the learning outcomes for baccalaureate education and the category-specific criteria. This ancillary document does not need to be exhaustive, but illustrative to allow GECo to be better informed.
