Liberal Studies students explore different approaches to knowledge, complete self-assessment to set goals, and design an individualized degree plan in LIS 303: Introduction to Liberal Studies. Students then pursue their degree through course work selected from offerings university-wide, as well as independent studies with faculty support, service or experiential learning, or internships. The curriculum may be completed in person, online, or blended.

Although degree plans must be broad enough to meet the interdisciplinary goals of the degree, students may choose a thematic focus for their degrees, such as sports leadership, community relations, or human resource development. Additionally, some students choose to add a minor such as African American Studies, Art History, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Women and Gender Studies.
