Can you tell us a bit about your background and what inspired you to pursue your current career path?
From when I started running cross country in high school, the idea of being a head coach someday was always something that was in the back of my mind. Going through Junior College and eventually ending up at UIS only helped make this decision easier. I was very blessed to have some of the best coaches at every level who inspired me to be the best person possible. The idea of helping like-minded individual's reach their goals while getting a high quality degree is so special. I am just fortunate enough to be able to do it at my Alma mater.
Who or what has been your biggest influence or mentor in your journey?
My past head coaches played a huge role in my journey to be where I am today. I would not be in the position I am if it weren't for them taking me under their wing and showing me how to be the best coach possible. The first thing my mentor had told me before getting a head coaching role is "Athletes don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." This is something that will always stick with me.
What are your goals and aspirations for the future?
I want to keep providing opportunity's for individuals to reach their full potential here at UIS while competing at the National level.
What advice would you give to others who are looking to advance and make a difference in their field?
Listen, care and enjoy the moments. Coaching is more than writing workouts. It's about the day to day interaction with your athletes. This is how they are going to remember you down the road.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time that helps you stay inspired and motivated?
I still love to run, it's been a lot of fun enjoying longer distances such as the half marathon and full marathon. I also enjoy to golf.
