Ashlee Brown of Waverly, Illinois, a senior at Waverly High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2024 and awarded a $28,000 Capital Scholars Honors Program Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, she plans to major in exercise science.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

At Waverly High School, she serves as the president of the National Honor Society, the student council and the class of 2024. She also plays volleyball and softball. Brown is the 2023 Miss Waverly.

“I chose UIS because I am really impressed with the exercise science program and faculty,” Brown said. “The campus feels like home.”

Following graduation from UIS, she plans to attend graduate school to study physical therapy.

Capital Scholars Honors Program scholarships are competitive and are based on high school GPA. The Honors Program is a selective undergraduate program combining high standards and emphasis on excellence with a small residential college model, enrolling only about 100 first-year students each year.
