The Illinois Springfield baseball team came up short in a 19-9 loss to Lewis on Sunday in a game that featured plenty of offensive firepower. With the win, Lewis ensured a series split at the start of conference play for the Prairie Stars and the Flyers. UIS now holds a record of 7-7, 2-2 GLVC, while Lewis moves to 7-5, 2-2 GLVC.

Mark Kattula capped the inning with an RBI groundout, making it a 6-1 game.
  • Lewis added a run in the fourth before erupting for seven runs in the fifth, including a grand slam that put the Flyers ahead 9-6.
  • UIS answered in the sixth when Mark Kattula drove in Dillon Smail to cut the deficit to 9-7. However, Lewis added four runs in the eighth and six more in the ninth to put the game out of reach.
