The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced Wednesday that Madelyn Miller has been named the GLVC Track Athlete of the Week following her record-setting performance in the 5,000-meter run.

Miller delivered a standout performance at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday, finishing the 5,000-meter run in 16 minutes, 37 seconds. The time set a new UIS program record and currently ranks first in the GLVC and 13th in NCAA Division II.

This is Miller's first GLVC Track Athlete of the Week honor in indoor track & field—and the first in program history.

Miller has now claimed UIS school records in the three longest indoor races—the mile, 3,000 meters, and 5,000 meters. Earlier this season, she was named the department's Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month after breaking the 3K record.

The Prairie Stars will wrap up the regular season this weekend at the IC Hilltop Classic before turning their focus to the GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis on March 1-2.
