The UIS women's tennis team came up just short in a tightly contested non-conference match on Friday, falling 4-3 to Southwest Baptist. The Prairie Stars dropped to 0-3 while the Bearcats improved to 2-2

  • Carmen Llopis Fabra and Ema Norma Bordean secured a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, but the Prairie Stars dropped the No. 2 doubles match as Niamh Grogan and Kamila Kalinowska fell 6-4. With UIS unable to field a third doubles team, Southwest Baptist claimed the doubles point.
  • In singles play, UIS put up a strong fight, winning three of the five contested matches. Llopis Fabra claimed a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-4), while Bordean battled through a three-set marathon to win 6-4, 6-7, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Cristina Mendoza Romero added another point for UIS with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
  • Niamh Grogan fell 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 3 slot, and Kamila Kalinowska endured a hard-fought match at No. 4 singles, ultimately falling 7-6, 6-7, 7-6. UIS forfeited No. 6 singles, sealing the 4-3 loss.
