Two UIS women's track and field athletes took on the 800-meter run Friday evening at the IC Hilltop Classic in Jacksonville, Ill.

  • Norah Wright and Kali Gaden raced in the same heat of the 800 meters, competing against a field that included WashU athletes on the 200-meter flat track.
  • Wright posted her best time of the year, finishing 10th in 2:23.38. Her converted time of 2:21.75 currently ranks 20th in the GLVC, putting her just outside the top 18 for conference qualification, pending additional weekend results and championship declarations.
  • Gaden also recorded her best indoor time of the season, crossing the line in 2:25.66 to place 13th.
  • The meet featured competitors from GLVC programs, including Truman State, Quincy, and Missouri-St. Louis, but none posted faster times than the UIS duo.

The Prairie Stars now turn their focus to the GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships, set for March 1-2 in Indianapolis. UIS will finalize its entries this week based on the league's performance list.
