The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced on Friday that University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis student-athlete Carmen Llopis Fabra has been named the GLVC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Llopis Fabra is the first UIS women's tennis athlete to earn the award.
The junior ranked as high as No. 53 nationally in the ITA singles rankings during the spring 2024 season. In her best match of the year, while ranked No. 71, she defeated the No. 28-ranked individual from Indianapolis.
Llopis Fabra saw a perfect semester in the classroom while competing in No. 1 singles and doubles for UIS. She finished the season of competition with records of 7-5 in singles and 7-6 in doubles with partner Franca Bucco.
The Castellon, Spain native was a First Team All-GLVC selection for the second time in her career.
She also added a CSC Academic All-District award as well as another Academic All-GLVC recognition to her record this spring.
