Cassandra Goudreau of Woodstock, Illinois, a recent graduate of Woodstock High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2023 and awarded a $36,000 Capital Scholars Honors Program Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, she plans to major in marketing.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

At Woodstock High School, she was the student council president, North Central District of Student Council's Area III representative and vice president of the marketing club. She was also a member of the class council, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and the Blue Streak Service Club.

“The focus that UIS gives to its Capital Scholars Honors Program sets it apart from other universities. UIS also emphasizes community and diversity,” she said. “At UIS, I will be able to expand my knowledge of other perspectives and build lasting friendships through the highly diverse campus and tightly knit community.”

Following graduation from UIS, she hopes to further her education by earning a master’s degree in marketing.

Capital Scholars Honors Program scholarships are competitive and are based on high school GPA. The Honors Program is a selective undergraduate program combining high standards and emphasis on excellence with a small residential college model, enrolling only about 100 first-year students each year.
