UIS Faculty and Staff:

UIS and the Center for State Policy and Leadership (CSPL) have been invited to partner in the Inaugural Edgar Fellows Capitol Connections Day.

The inaugural Capitol Connections Day for undergraduate college students interested in careers in public service will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, with morning sessions at the Illinois State Capitol and lunch and afternoon sessions at the Governor’s Mansion.  An optional tour of the Executive Mansion may be available at the end of the day.

These interactive sessions will feature speakers, including elected officials, lobbyists, and staff members who are active in the public policy arena but are at different points in their careers.  During the luncheon program, alumni of the Edgar Fellows Program will host table discussions with the students following the keynote talk. The end of the day will include a brief overview of internship opportunities in state government and with organizations that interact with policymakers.

This is an opportunity for five (5) UIS undergraduate students who are interested in careers in the public sector to participate. We are seeking nominations from UIS faculty and staff to select the five (5) students. To nominate a student, please complete this form on or by March 21, 2025, at 5 pm.
