Chelsey Chambless of Linden, Michigan, a senior at Linden High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2023 and awarded a $16,000 Lincoln Merit Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, she will major in chemistry and play on the women’s soccer team.
The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
Chambless plays on a travel soccer team. At Linden High School, she was a part of the volleyball team and served as a team representative for the Girls Academy. She also was involved in organizations such as Socktober, Noah’s Project and feeding the homeless.
“I chose (UIS) because as soon as I stepped on campus I felt at home,” she said. “The school has everything I need to excel in both school and soccer. I am more than excited for Fall of 2023!”
Following graduation from UIS, she plans to user her degree to find a job that she enjoys and loves in the science field.
