As the weather gets colder and we engage in more indoor activities, our risk of illness increases, including cold, flu, RVS, COVID-19, and many other illnesses. One of the best strategies is always prevention. Please consider getting an updated vaccine to help keep yourself and others safe.
- If you’re sick or develop COVID-19-related symptoms, stay home and follow public and medical health guidelines on when it is safe to return to work or class.
- If you have COVID-19, isolate for at least five days. If after five days your symptoms are improving, you can exit isolation but should wear a mask around others for an additional five days.
- Order your free at home COVID-19 testing kits. Students can access testing at UIS by appointment through Health Services or your local testing site.
- It is strongly encouraged that you get vaccinated against COVID-19 and remain up to date on COVID-19 vaccine boosters, especially those with risk factors for severe infection. New vaccines targeting the most recent variants are now available.
- You can obtain your COVID-19 vaccine through your local pharmacy, primary care office, and local public health agencies. Remember to check your insurance coverage to understand any cost that may associated with obtaining your vaccine. You can use this link to find a COVID-19 vaccine site near you.
- Practice good hygiene, washing your hands often and avoiding touching your face.
