Daniel Mahony chose the University of Illinois Springfield because it was a perfect fit for him from both an athletic and academic perspective. The exercise science major plays on the UIS men’s soccer team, works for the Office of Electronic Media and recently helped to produce a brochure explaining why UIS is a great place for international students. Following graduation form UIS, Mahony plans to pursue a master’s degree in exercise physiology. His ultimate career goal is to work as a performance coach for a professional soccer team. “It is important that I can work in a competitive environment because there is nothing better than having that winning feeling at the weekend,” he said.
